I have the Synthesource issues which are included in Barry Klein's
Book (are these the complete ones, or are there others too ?).
I remember a discussion about the 3310, but I have to look for the 
discreet circuit again; don't remember this one.

There is a scan on the web; I think on Anders' site.
The envelopes are a little staircase-like (I don't know how large
the steps are, but I never heard anybody complain about it),
but they are pretty fast (3ms if memory serves).
