Have you tried just plugging em in? Sometimes that works fine, just take a
sound with a fast attack (snare, high hat), put the volume up and plug the
individual out into the MAP box. Hey, it can't hurt! 

A lot of people use this method as a source for tape sync... and it's a
good use of a mediocre drum machine.
