YO(> With all this talk about front panels, I want to let you guys know of one
YO(> of the best services out there. Its by a company in Germany called
 YO(> Schaeffer Apparatebau KG
YO(> and they are located in Berlin. They designed a software which lets you
YO(> layout your own front panel, and then they are able to manufacture it from
YO(> your specs. You have a choose of aluminum thickness as well as
YO(> colour!!!!! (red, green, blue, gold, black and more) You can have your
YO(> front panels drilled, engraved, negative embossed as well as whole
YO(> punched. The program is very user-friendly and extremely easy to use.

I can fill out that Juergen Haible where early describing this
service. He used it for his Synthi A clone and where happy about their
service (well, he did experience some errors of his own, but you can't
win them all).

The day after Juergen reported about Schaeffer Apparatebau I
discovered that we had a need for a similar service so I had one of my
colligues to check them out. We have now received several shipments
which we are happy with (except for our own errors ;). We have one of
our boxes shiped over to USA for the Supercom in Atlanta with those
front panels.

So, they provide a great service, don't hesitate to use it.

I want to emphase that the frontplate/pots/switches/contacts is one of
the things that you use most on many of the gizmos that one builds so
it is well worth putting money into making it good. I think that this
also has a psychological factor to it, if it is good looking and
neatly done you get a much better feeling about it.

Keep it up, Kai!

Cheers,
Magnus
