It looks pretty safe to me. I haven't read on all the details but some
of the key parameters seems allright (pinning, input impedance, gain,
CMRR, PSRR etc).

I have the oposite problem, I will try to put a CA3140 in place of a
wooked CA3130 in my sequencer... I have a spare CA3140 but not spare
CA3130.
The CA3130 does have one very interesting aspect in that you can tap
in before the output inverter (which is just two MOSFETs acting as
inverter). You could possibly do some pretty weird and nasty stuff
with such a thing. Noteworthy is that the curcuit consists of 3 NPN, 8
PMOS FETs and 1 NMOS FET.
One of those wierd cursuits you can do with this device is in the
databook. There they use the strobe output pin to drive 3 extra output
stages in parallell to the existing one! This would look just strange
with an CA3140 (where they most probably would not be
interchangeable).
