.......this isn't my reading of either the CMOS Cookbook or the relevant 
datasheets.. any op amp can be run either from a bipolar or single 
ended power supply, simply by paying attention to input bias levels.
The examples in the CMOS Cookbok naturally show single ended supply
configs since the ckts are interfacing with CMOS ckts.
I t is true that the 3140 can handle higher supply voltages.
