to get a rough idea what this sounds like, you can make an approximation 
from a stepped analog sequencer run at audio frequencies. (The roland 
system 100 gets up at lest into the bottom of the audio range).
Not very fat, since the harmonics generated are all precisely locked to the 
fundamental. But, if you were poling around voltages that had some slow
variation added to them, then you might get something interesting.
