If you dont have a drumstation, please delete..
To all who own V1 and other troubled Drumstations..
I have had my drumstation turn-itself off, have noise on the outputs,
erratic functioning, crash, reset etc.. all at the most inappropriate
times while doing shows.
I have found the source of the prob..
for some reason the output of the PS for the drumstation is NOT quite 9v
DC...
So, i replaced it with a PS for a sega genesis that can be bought at any
radio shack. Not only does the Radio Shack PS have about double the
current, but, it has a fairly stiff voltage compared to the
Drumstation...
Now, the only thing you have to do is change the polarity of the Radio
Shack PS to the inner barrel being +.. It comes as inner barrel -. The
wires from the PS need to be switched around..
The PS im using is 9v 1200ma and cost 16 dollars @ radio shack catalog #
273-1612a.
It has cured everything on my drumstation, including:
flickering led readout
crashes
intermittent shutoff
lock-ups
noisy outputs
no controller output
front panel button lockup
volume fluctuation (ie when main on DS was completely turned down, if
there was midi info, it would turn up the mains by itself, then turn off
again)
I have been using it for a few days without problem, and i would suggest
that if you are about to throw your drumstation out the window like i
was, please give this a try.
