   My suggestion, use at LEAST 1/2" chipboard if you are going to go that
route.  3/8" is just too fragile.  That's what I made my home stereo 
speaker cabinets out of.  It's heavy as hell, but it's survived MANY 
cross country moves over the years and is still together!
   And DEFINATELY metal brackets!
