DIY tape echo -- possible?

First off thanks for the responses. I only asked because the
existing circuit in my reel2reel seems so simple. I guess not.

After, more experimenting it appears my deck can only play or
record, because switching one on automatically switches the other
off, and when I tried to wire it with both on (unsoldering
the playback side of the record/play head and connecting the
walkman head to the appropriate leads) it simply wouldn't do
anything. I think this is what Rene described here:

I've heard about using two reel2reels for an echo effect, but I
was just trying to make due with what I have. That seems like the
easy thing to do. I'll see if I can find another cheapo reel2reel
and try it. FYI, when I had both heads working simultaneously
(both record or both playback) and would record something, I got
the echo effect when I played it back. What a sound!

Anyway, I am interested in the circuits for the playback amps Rene.
If they're not too big (I have a geocities account) you can email
them whenever you get a chance.

thanks again,
scott
