Childish whining on Analogue Heaven?!? The hell you say! ;)

It needs a keyboard?? Anyway, what is the definition of "synth" ?? Is the
competition to build the best synth for $49.99 or less, or is it to build
the cheapest thing that is a synth??
Does it have to be able to accurately sound notes that it is told to play??
If so, you would be dealing with all of the tempco/exponential converter
problems in building VCO's that are a perennial topic on this list.
If not, you could get one of those cheap music generator chips they put in
answering machines and such (hey, it has its own sequencer :) Add a
battery and an output stage and you have a device that satisfies one
definition of a synth for only a few bucks. Then again, I don't know if
these are in the Digikey catalog.

You can always hock the medal and endorse corn flakes :)
PEACE OUT :)

passive components in the TB-303 mimic the distress cry of a living,
sentient creature.
