I didn't mean to imply this, in fact I'm probably the last person who
would be anal about synth construction. 

I have to agree with everything you said. I sometimes use my ASM-1 VCO's
purely for percussive purposes, and many of the prototypes I build are
fairly "sloppy" in the strict technical sense, but I _use_ them on a daily
basis, unlike dare I say many people whose modular just sits there for
months at a time. (not to deride people with too much gear, I'm probably
just envious :)

HOWEVER, Building synth gear is just like any other hobby: you can take it
to many levels. However you build/play and whatever helps you to derive
enjoyment from the hobby is perfectly acceptable, and should be acceptable
conversation on this mailing list. Just take everything that's said here
with a grain of salt, and extract from the list what you can use. 

Sorry if the grammar on this is a little off... solder fumes...
