Its not too bad, buts its (a) Linear, (b) voltage controlled which means 
useing a voltage/current/log converter isnt easy, (c) Yes it gets VERY 
hot...ouch... and (d) Doesn't have a good enough sweep ratio for use as 
a VCO..
