Brun 's broken Polysix-story

Hello,
I've been having this Korg Polysix in my closet for quite some time
now. It's broken, like most Polysixes, due to battery leakage. Now,
I've already checked an repaired all broken traces. Some
work! Also replaced a chip or two. But it still won't work
properly...
There are only two IC's left that can be the cause of this: the
programmer CPU and the SRAM memory chip, with the latter being the
most likely one. This SRAM is a very old type. Aaaannnd... it's no
longer available. But I've heard about diy'ers replacing it with a
more modern type.
Now, my two questions are:
- How can I replace it?! It is my guess that I'd have to solder
something nice from a chip socket. Modern SRAMS obviously
have more pins and are far bigger.
- Just a try: is there anyone out there who has a working PCB (the
one with the battery on it, that is) and is willing to part with it?
I'm quite tired of soldering around in this machine. DIY is nice, but
I'd really like to be able to *play* this P6. I can get a brandnew
PCB over here in Holland (Yes! They're still available here!), but
they are quite expensive, so I'll only do it when everything else
fails.
Thanks, and have a very nice day.
Jeroen
