I'm answering you directly because some of the people on this list get
almost apoplectic when you start talking about MCU's or computers in
general. If you want to post this anyway be my guest--just leave out this
paragraph.


Midwest Analog Products has a couple of MIDI gadgets (kits) with documented
68705 source code you can download. The whole proess of decoding the MIDI
stream is done in software, so it should extremely informative.

If you want to play around with the '705, there's a good, inexpensive
burner kit from Lucid Technologies (they also have an inexpensive EPROM
burner kit). Both of these gadgets are stand-alone devices, so it doesn't
matter what computer you have. Nice.

Just in case you're interested, there's an new development system for the
'HC05 (very similar to the '705) from  A.A.E. Systems that looks very
interesting.
