Fraid I gotta throw in a "me too" here as well.
I've got one of the beginner books on buying and building your own synth
and the only thing usefull is his decription of individual modules from
Moog, Arp, etc (to give you ideas!).
But the circuits are a joke. Most are kinda stupid and almost every one I
built didn't work. I know they were put together right..... If you're
ganna write a beginner books, you gotta a least include circuits that ALL
work even with basic parts substitutions - a la Forest Mimms (evertying
works in his books - very simple!)
Somebody gave me a large text by him - kind of like an Art of Electronics
thing. Unfortunately, I'm suspsect of the information given what this
synth book is like.
