slightly randomizing uPD timing

Ok, just a though.. 
what about taking the clock of a uPD and ANDing it with another
oscillator (audio sqr wave, 555, variable)  THEN taking the output of
the ANDed clock and sending it to the clock of the uPD? 
Could one achieve some sort of "variable randomization" that just
*might* give a digital sequencer the sort of lively shuffle of the early
gear?
Making it switchable would be good too..
