I always expect any workable idea to have been found before - the chances of
finding anything new are tiny :-))

The glitches that are present must only last as long as the switch over time
(300ns) - I would expect these to be well above audio range, so they could
disappear with a bit of high frequency roll-off in the buffer amp.

Need to buy a better scope - mine is a cute but semi-useless student design
(liberated from a closing school) that struggles at 100kHz.
