Hello, some time ago I mentioned the ELV frequency counter kit.
Saturday I soldered it, took 2.5 hours. Unfortunately the description was
unaccurate, not to say wrong (so it took some detective work and half
an hour to figure out that the jumpers work in a different way, that
the clamp diodes of the segment driver ic is NOT connected to Vdd etc)

But the decription is the only wrong thing, the hardware works perfectly.
So this is nothing for the beginner, he won't figure out what's wrong.

The cool thing is that the microcontroller detects if the input
frequency is very low (<100kHz or so) and uses a period measurement,
then it calculates the reciprocal value, ie. you can measure directly
very low frequencys with rapid display update times, something that other
counters can't do, or only high line models of about 1000DM (1.65 DM =
1$). This kit cost me 89 DM.

I think it is idealy suited for music applications and I may use it as
a module for my modular for module calibration and tuning.
It needs a 5V power supply (regulator) and a perfect ttl-level pulse input.

ELV has agents in other countrys, like USA etc.
