Patching up everything from separate jacks is the most flexible solution, but it is very time-consuming to use. On my modular, I provide switches and normalisations for the most useful connections, but also separate jacks if I want to try something really weird. For me it is important that the synth is reasonably quick to use, otherwise it will probably not be used much.
