Sawing your own IC sockets?

Hi folks,
I was about to purchase a quantity of the Augat 500 Series machined
contact IC sockets pre-cut for certain pin amounts/lengths. However, in a
local electronics store I noticed that I could purchase a long 2-3 foot
strip of 0.3" width IC socket of the same exact type, and it would end up
being far more economical to buy this long strip and then saw the socket
lengths I need myself. This particular line of socket is supposed to meet
military specs for high shock and vibration, so can anyone here tell me if
it would be safe to cut these sockets with a small bandsaw without doing
any damage to them? The tray of the bandsaw vibrates like hell, so maybe
I could just hold it up to the blade (albeit very carefully)? Or maybe I
could just use a hacksaw?
Thanks very much for any advice,
Brett D
