prob makes as much or more diff than the actual phaser config...
and, a function of LED/LDR systems is to smooth out the modulating signal,
as the LDR had a longish 'recovery' time after illumination (and even more so
for systems based on incandescant bulbs).
There has been a lot of discussion on phasers on the AMPAGE tech-Talk bbs,
apparently one successful waveform rectified a sine wave to give a bumpy
sort of modulator which was good.
