dbx VCA

Hi list ppl ! 

Anyone  know the dbx2150 series(2155,2151,2180...) and SSM2018 (ex
SSM2013/2014) - those ics are greats VCAs for audio, i have used some
for  building compressors ,noise gate,....with succes and good results!
Why nobody use them in synth VCA ?

Don't they fit with synth VCA performances ? (i doubt)

Are they too much clean for this application ?
