yeah, you could just use a carry enable configuration and chain two 10 count
dividers. When one is done counting, it hands off the count to a second BCD
counter, which finishes the counting. It really depends on what you wanna do
with it.
OR, you could go with a binary counter, that would take you up to 16.
Depends on what you are doing with it..
If you are driving a decimal display, then you would be better off with the
BCD (10) counters set up in a msb/lsb configuration.
But, if all you are doing is counting, its up to you.

ps, if your feeling rather spry, go to barnes and noble and get the
ttl/cmos cookbook.. it is the best, they explain stuff in depth. Some of
those circuit encyclopaedias are really interesting too, along with the
Forrest Mims books at radio shack. $1.99 for a book about circuits cant be
beat..
