Does anyone still make the 3280? I haven't seen one listed in a catalog for
years. Always heard it was superior to the 3080.
Harris makes it nowadays. (How did it go? It was originally an RCA
chip and I *think* what happened was that RCA was owned by NBC, NBC
was bought by GE, the linear line was taken over by Siliconix which
was also bought by GE previously, then the linear line was sold to
Harris. Is that right?)

Yeah, the CA3280 was designed to be a superior CA3080. Linearizing
diodes to compensate for the diffamp transfer curve and low noise (the
3080 doesn't actually have a noise spec). The LM13600 (National
Semiconductor) is basically the same thing but with an emitter
follower stage you can choose to use or not.
