dont think it has quite the range either....
I'd be using a tomg ckt myself...

(actually, after giving up on those 2 chips, I use a LM13600 ckt, but to get the
full range out of this, you have to scrap the output buffers and use  a fet and
an op amp! The only ckt from Horowitz and Hill that didn't perform..
