The PAiA HyperFlanger pushes the 1024 to it's limit, well under a ms.

I seem to remember that the Electric Mistress used some kind of BBD based
some other technology--CCD, if my memory is intact. Not sure about the
Marshall.

Exactly. Now go break the rules.
BTW, Midwest Analog Products still had a few 4096's left the last time I
checked, at a fraction of what they used to cost.
