I hate to say this Rob, but yes, you can build one for $50.....
and no, you couldnt build one, pay for staff, rent, taxes, phones,
lights, advertising and get it into a music store for less than $350.
Lets go backwards:
Retail $350
Price to store:$220
Freight & handling to store:$10.
Screenprinted custom box: $85, if at all fancy.
Components: $50, as you say.
Assembly wages: $30
oops, forgot the pcb: $24, depending on quantity
Well, thats $21 for advertising, phone , light, rent,
and any profit to put toward your own wage, PROVIDED
that nobody stiffs you on payment (which you get 90 days
AFTER it is delivered to the store).
