No blasphemy here; my feeling is "give to Caesar that which is Caesar's".
What a splendid notion, to let digital do what it does best (control) and
let analog do what it does best (sound right). 

Consider the Korg PolySix, or even better: the Korg Delta. I seem to recall
that the Delta is rougly 1/2 organ (it has drawbars...) and 1/2 synth,
utilising digital control, and analog VCOs/VCFs.

Back to the future.
