Actually, it sounds pretty good for a spring. Larry Fast used a pair for
years. The trick is to take two springs, wire the inputs in parallel and
the outputs in series OUT OF PHASE. This cancels most of the direct signal
out, and most of the the "sproing" as well, leaving just the reverb. As
long as you don't overdrive it, it sounds a lot like plate.
