I believe the problem is one more of perception and the vagaries of
communication
through the Internet.  A person sends what seems to him to be a normal, harmless
question.  The recipient (particularly if they're a bit new to the Net)
receives it and
interprets it to be questioning his ability.  Multiply that by however many
times he
receives the same question, and all of a sudden it seems that the world is
ganging
up on him.  I've seen this happen on several other lists.  I think one just
has to decide
that if they're going to be on the Net for the long term, and dealing with
people from
many countries and cultures, that you have to cultivate a bit of a thick
skin and not
take things too literally.
