Hi
Ive been reading the mail about Tomg and the flaming he recieved with
much interest.
Whats the problem?
Most of Tomgs' circuits are well Known designs with interesting
solutions eg the ladder filter with ca3080 as a differential amp-
elegant!
The maxx 4 vco is basicly the Moog prodigy and the later Minimoog
oscillator design; uhm I think thats a proven design. So it hasnt got
range switching or temperature compensation- well just add that its not
diificult eg heated 3046 and prodigy style range switching using the
referance current.Tomg has said he will add heated compensation one day
but modern compnents are much better than they used to be and if you
keep the oscillators in one locale they wont drift too much-ask Gene
Stopp!
Tomg adsrs are also well proven Moog designs using the 555 timer so come
on everyone stop bitching at him build the bloody stuff and add your own
design improvement/customization where needed.
And finally yes I have built a lot of synths and learned an awful lot
just by hacking parts of circuits together from various designs and
improving commercial designs ie the Doepfer Moog Filter wher the
capacitor values are too small and the cutoff therefor too high.
I look forward to being flamed!
Many thanks to Gene Stopp,Juergen Haible and Tomg whose sites and ideas
are superb and brilliant food for thought.
