I came across something curious recently, an analog speech synthesis experiment
kit. It was produced in about 1964 by Bell Labs as a part of their education
program for computer and electronics students.

Wow, I built and mod'd that kit when in jr. high! Later, I had a lot of fun
with voltage-controlled parallel BP filters driven by an analog sequencer for
dynamic output, using their formant frequencies as a baseline. Sadly, I lost
the book. Have you tried web searches on any of the research cited there?
