TB Sequencer Replication by Software

If you wish to implement the TB-303 slide, what you need is not a slew rate
limit (ramp), but an IIR (Infinite Impulse Response) filter
simulation. This is easy in hardware (can you say RC time
constant?), but a bear in software.

JKJ Electronics CV-4 and CV-5 MIDI/CV converters
are the only MIDI/CV converters available which do the 303 slide properly.
Every other converter available (at any price) has a linear ramp for portamento,
(and you know it's wrong the second you hear it).
You can set the slide to occur only when the notes are
played legato style, and set single trigger mode for the gate.
Thus, just hit the next note before releasing the previous note and
you've got the slide. If you want the slide to start early, just hit
the next note early.

As far as the 303 accent,
the CV-5 can have velocity control both the filter
cutoff and the volume (no need for any volume CV on your synth, the
CV-5 takes the synth's audio output and provides volume and pan
control. You can use your sequencer or MIDI controller
to allow just two velocity values. For example, no accent = 100,
accent = 127.

In a similar manner, if your synth has a voltage controlled volume input (like the
minimoog), the CV-4 can do what the CV-5 does, by using the FILTER
output as usual, and the AUX output to control volume.

This is just one example of the unique, well implemented features in
our MIDI/CV converters. Please check out our web page for more information.

For those who like to DIY, enclosureless, jackless units are available
at discounted prices for inclusion into homebrew or any
synths.
