A couple simple questions, dudes

Hey Dudes,
Can you put a 50k resistor and a 100k resistor in series to create
150k of resistance (can I combine a 100k and a 50k to replace a 150k
resistor)? Also, if I can combine them, should they be in series or
parallel? I thought it would be in series, but I'm not sure.
My second question is, how do you convert a circuit that is
supposed to drive a small speaker so that it can be used to drive a
line out in addition/instead? The project I'm trying to convert to
line out is the photocell controlled Micro Theremin (TherMan) at:
http://www.tomg.vivid.net/theremin/theremin.html
Who knows, maybe I don't have to do any thing. I guess I'll find out,
huh?
Thank you for your help, dudes.
