I believe there are 2 important points:
- the portamento is exponential, and so close to fixed time
- it's triggered 80ms before the next beat
(that value maybe wrong, it's from memory)
The sequencer incorporated in my softsynth at present has linear
portamento starting at the end of the gate period (which is
variable). This is pretty much what you suggest and doesn't quite
sound 303-like. As an aside that sequencer is looking much more like
a 3 by 16 analogue sequencer than anything to do with a 303 now... I
hope to have a MIDI sending version available soon.
