.....well I don't know your budget but John Blacet has those
PIC chips programmed to convert mtc to 24ppq din sync...
then all you do is divide by 24
i have some of these (havnt used them yet)..VERY low component
count (a crystal, cap and thats it)
but if a friend asked ME, I'd take an unloved module and
ser it to receive a click track.. then drive a led either
directly or via a little amp & resistor..
WARNING: dont stick a led directly accrioss an output unless
you are a synth technician living on the gold coast.. but
sometimes it works, sometimes it is just the output stage gone..

BTW, for a luxury model, you would want a line display of leds
where the leftmost one comes on BEFORE the beat and so on..
this way you can put feel into the drumming
