LDR ideas

Well, us newbies (i.e. me) wouldn't mind a short discussion on these
trivial matters :-) Then again, I think one of the circuits on helins
page is a sketch of a filter incorporating LDRs in some way...Has this
been expanded upon or tested by someone?

The DDL-with-LDRs-idea, besides being completely unpronouncable, seems
seriously  weird in a *very* good way, though. I want one!

Couldn't the problem with mains hum through the lightning turn into a
UI design feature? Place all the LDRs on a surface of some kind, put
an arc above that surface and a battery powered lamp at the top of
that arc. This way, the main light come from the lamp (which doesn't
flicker at 50 hz) and depending on the arc design it may shadow the
LDRs from the mains lightning. It might also be quite good looking,
depending on the design of that arc :-> Imagine a whole band on stage,
all playing and modifying sounds by moving their hands in out and
around different illuminated arcs...Now, that's weird :-)
