I don't know about the ASM1 because I've not had time to follow it
up unfortunately. :( However...

Isn't this just what I said. You can hang it from the positive rail in a
split system. The only thing to watch out for is that the VC is zero to Five
volts. And that the Bass, Treble and Balance controls are set centre when
it's at 2.5 volts. Having said that, it shouldn't be all that hard to
convert the rail to rail CV if necessary. It should be noted here. The real
beauty of using these chips in a mixer or output stage is that you can place
the chips right on the output stage. Your pots could be mounted several
meters away from the action if necessary.
