Well, if you'll notice I didn't say anything about increasing traffic, I
just suggested creating a "who's who" web page to accompany this list.
(only for those who want to have their name up, of course) I too like the
high signal-to-noise ratio and wouldn't want to disrupt it.
HOWEVER, to play the devils advocate, I don't think it's _totally_
inappropriate. How can we gauge what synths we want to create without
listening to audio examples of music which was made using said synths?
There have already been postings of the location of songs and front panel
pictures made with/of specific DIY synths, I don't see that this is much
of an abberation. (although I do recognise the difference between
discussion of creating patches and discussion of song organization, for
example) I can understand why people wouldn't want to see it cluttering up
their mailbox, but I can also understand why most people on the list would
find it interesting. It's kind of like discussing just the tools without
being able to visualize the finished product. I also think that making a
page of the people who reside on this list would encourage the very open
and helpful atmosphere which I see as on of this lists strong points.
To surmise: I agree with you on it being inappropriate, but I think a web
page dedicated to this would prove helpful and interesting to most of this
list. I anticipate having spare time this summer, so I'll take up the job
of creating said web page (unless anybody has serious objections) probably
starting in under a month.
