DIY Leslie - a different approach

This just occurred to me after reading parts of the DIY Leslie thread and
trying to tune my SH-5 -
I was working on the synth, listening to a single oscillator with no
modulation, and still hearing a periodic fluctuation. I was puzzled at
first, until I looked up and, sure enough - it was in sync with the ceiling
fan!
The fan itself is whisper quiet, but those big old blades sure do affect
the sound in the room.
So how about this as a faux-Leslie: Mount the speaker horizontally, facing
up into a fan. The fan would have blades at a very sharp angle - say, 45
degrees, or maybe even near-vertical. This would disperse the sound in an
interesting manner, but would avoid the need for rotating speaker contacts.
Obviously it wouldn't sound just like a Leslie, but it might be close.
