Hello DIYers,
The time has come for me to purchase a good soldering iron. The Weller
EC1002 seems to be a good choice for this. I have noticed, however,
that the EC1002 comes with one of two possible irons. There is the 20
Watt EC1302A iron, and the 40 Watt EC1201A iron.
I was wondering if anyone here could suggest would iron choice would be
better for Synth DIY applications and why? For example, is 40 Watts too
much for delicate IC soldering?
The only thing I can think of needing a large amount of heat generation
for is constructing instrument cables. However, for that kind of
application, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't be able to just use a
cheapie 40 Watt soldering iron.
All advice greatly appreciated...thanks in advance!
