you could do it usineg a couple of cmos chips ( a one of 8 multiplexor 
and tap the 3rd out to next chip and 4th to rest , this gives /3) this 
gives you the 1/8th, then use a 4024 being friven by this, this will 
give you 1/4,1/2,1/1,2/1,4/1,8/1 bear in mind a quarter note is a 
crotchet... so 4/1 is a bar in length (4/4 time) and 1/1 is a crotchet, 
etc... is this clear or as confusineg as hell?
