and if anyone is designing a pulse rate doubler, perhaps think about 
using the input pulses to start and reset an integrator, giving a 
ramp, and then use a comparator set to half the (stored) level of the 
previous ramp peak to give a 'midway' pulse....needless to say I havn't
done this myself and prob wont in the forseeable future... but note that
an approach like this overcomes PLL lag problems
