Dumb question: Transistor matching?

Hi All,

A friend and I are building ASM1's together, and we're stumped when it comes
to the part that says "use matched pair transistors".  I know we can buy
them from the manufacturer already matched, but does anyone know of a good
reference or how-to on how exactly we can match transistor pairs ourselves
using the tools at hand (DVM, breadboard, etc)?
