It's not critical. You can use any power mosfet with high enough BVds.
The IRF820 is a good one. Be sure to use the protection diodes to keep
power on/off transients from killing the regulator.
By the way, for the items on your web site you list as "stolen from
Keen's web site", could you replace those items with links?
I don't post anything I really don't want known, but I do update the
material and correct mistakes, and you will miss those. I get lots of
mail from people about "mistakes" that are from earlier versions of my
efforts. Finding my earlier stuff reposted other places makes me less
eager to post anything else.
