Ending the pot discussion????

>Kevin's point of all pots failing at some time is absolutely correct.

That wasn't my point.

Before I'm misquoted or have words put in my mouth again, let me explicitly
state what my points were, now that this discussion has been "ended" for
myself and others.

1. Some of the supposedly best pots seem to fail sooner than some of the
supposedly worst pots.
2. Specs on paper do not accurately represent real world situations.

And while I'm trying to stay as unbiased in this conversation as possible,
I don't think that the comparison of a temperature controller to a synth is
very realistic. I don't know what environment these controller pots have
been subjected to, but if I may phrase something as an assumption- I'm
assuming that they don't get a workout like most musicians would subject
them to.

The entire reason that I spoke up in the first place is that my experiences
were apparently different than Paul's. To me, saying nothing is acceptance
of statements like "Mouser carbon pots. 3-5 years from now, you will have
noisy pots that drift." and "There is nothing wrong with conductive
plastic".

It isn't a personal gripe I have with Paul, it's a personal problem I have
with assumptions being touted as hard fact. To me, facts taken out of
context are not facts.

So, I'm not advocating cheap pots, I'm not trying to slander anyone, I'm
simply standing up and questioning a statement that in *my experience* has
not shown to be true.

It's only a pot.

Again, I welcome any comments. This is a discussion forum. Let's not "end"
valid threads.
