What is 'quality'?

>I got a whole stack of PAiA 4700 modules here I bought
for $100. (an attempt to learn something before I jumped into MOTM)
No offense intended, but I am betting down the road my MOTM rack will
be worth more than what I paid for it, not less
>>>

No offense taken :-)

Larry, I think you got a bargain. Assuming the modules were assembled
OK and haven't been left in the rain, they're worth at least what they
cost 20 years ago. Remember, those things only sold for $20-$40 back
then and I see them change hands in this kind of price range and more.
Working Gnomes change hands for $60-$75, sometimes more, and I get
mail from people who would not part with them for any reasonable
amount of money. I've had mail from a father who passed one on to his
son, I swear it's true. They were $39.95 new. And even though we use
commercial grade parts, in appropriate cases even surplus, a few
sprays of contact cleaner and they sometimes work like new (no smart
cracks, now :). We see a few Gnomes, 4700 series synths and so on a
year in Tech Services and I'm generally impressed by how well they've
held up.
