Must have been some years earlier. I still have an old 1975 catalogue of
a german company (Radio Rim) where both notations are used: 4k7 and
4,7k.

BTW, Radio Rim was the supplier of my first DIY kit in 1968 or so: a
"detector" AM receiver. :-)
