you should check the diy-fx section of the bbs on 'the unofficial ampage'
where this has been discussed... another keyword 'R.G.Keen'

I use veroboard to test the concept, then send a print of the pcb to a 
'one man' pcb manufacturer..... about $50 US for half a dozen guitar fx
size boards, with holes.....
the PCB market is, big expensive places, and then all these little guys
tucked away, and the little guys are starving..... but they do a fine job
for our sort of stuff
