That must have been the same year that Testra (then called Telecom Australia
and still the same basic bunch of bastards) Sent us a nasty little message.
You see if you want to connect anything to the telephone network it has to
be Approved by Austel. In those days it was Telecom that did the testing. We
sent in a Bunch of prototype LIUs (Line interface units) for them to blow up
in their testing lab. They sent back a note. "Please don't use 1 percent
resistors because our engineers don't know how to read them." I kid you not!
